STEVE HARVEY APOLOGIZES TO MISS PHILIPPINES BACKSTAGE

Steve Harvey attempted to smooth things over with Miss Philippines Pia Alonzo Wurztbach, after crowning Miss Colombia my mistake moments before. In this pic we see Steve walk up to her and say a few things but did she accept his apology?

Steve Harvey walked up to Miss Philippines Pia Alonzo Wurztbach with his tail between his legs after the 2015 Miss Universe Pageant and tried to apologize for ruining the most important day of her life! The newly crowned Miss Philippines stood there with her hands clasped together as Steve stood there apologizing and we have to say that this photo says it all — it’s AWKWARD!

We don’t know what exactly Steve said to her or how she responded but backstage when Pia was asked her thoughts she simply replied: “It’s a very non-traditional crowning moment. Very 2015!”We told you that when Steve took to Twitter to apologize he misspelled both Colombia and the Philippines: “I want to apologize emphatically to Miss Philippians and Miss Columbia. This was a terribly honest human mistake and I am so regretful.” He has since deleted those tweets and updated with the correct spellings.

Steve also posted this message to his Facebook page: “I made a terrible mistake tonight in announcing the wrong winner and runner-up for the Miss Universe Pageant. I know how much pride many countries, fans and most importantly, the contestants take in preparing for this night. I hope that you can forgive me. All contestants were amazing but I want to specifically apologize to Miss Colombia and Miss Philippines again and wholeheartedly. You both represented well for your countries, families and yourselves.” We still don’t understand how this happened. We saw Steve’s cue card and it had the correct winners, although he’s now blaming the teleprompter.

THINGS NOBODY TELLS YOU ABOUT GIVING BIRTH

#1 Delivery doesn't end when the baby is born

You still have to deliver the placenta after the baby emerges, so don't be surprised when you still have more pushing to do. Luckily, it can be delivered quite quickly and painlessly.

#2 Due dates are overrated

Women like to have a finish line to look forward to. It helps them get through nine months of pregnancy when they feel like there is a deadline on their discomfort. The truth, however, is only 5 percent of women give birth on their due dates. So don't be surprised if your human bean doesn't sprout right on schedule.

#3 Having an epidural doesn't mean you're completely numb

An epidural is a form of pain management that can deaden the pain in a woman's lower body. It's administered through a needle placed in her back. But just because you have an epidural doesn't mean you'll have no feeling. Some women have uneven numbing in their legs, others can still lift their legs and lower body, others have feeling in their legs but none in their stomachs. Talk to your doctor if you feel a lot of contraction pain, but you don't have to be completely numb for the epidural to work.

#4 You can't eat or drink with an epidural

This is a tough fact, because it takes an enormous amount of effort to give birth, epidural or not, but doing so on an empty stomach makes it even harder. So eat a good meal before heading to the hospital if you plan on getting an epidural. Some hospitals may allow you to chew on flavored ice chips during labor, but those will do little to satisfy your hunger.

#5 You might defecate during delivery

This is an especially unsavory possibility that happens far more often than most women will admit. If it happens to you, don't feel embarrassed. It's nothing the nurses haven't seen before.

#6 Babies can look like they're covered in cottage cheese

No, your baby's skin isn't falling off and it won't always be coated by a sticky, cheese-like white substance. More common in babies born before 40 weeks, this covering, known as vernix caseosa, was what protected your baby's skin in the womb.

#7 Babies can be very hairy — not just on their heads

Some babies resemble monkeys more than humans when they're first born, and this isn't just because of the hair on their heads. You might notice hair on your little one's arms, shoulders and even back, and it can be quite dark. This, too, will rub off in time.

#8 Baby's head shape will change

If you deliver vag*nally, the bones in your baby's head will have to compress as they squeeze through the birth canal. They don't immediately resume their round shape. In fact, they may remain rather cone-shaped for several days. This effect can be worse if an intervention was required during birth, such as use of a vacuum or forceps.

#9 Someone is going to give you a massage, and it's going to hurt -- a lot!

Before you're allowed to go home, your doctor or midwife will want to be sure you've stopped bleeding. To do this, a nurse will massage your stomach at regular intervals to be sure your uter*s is shrinking back to its normal size. This is possibly the most painful massage you'll ever have.

#10 You'll go home wearing mesh underwear

The bleeding doesn't stop when you head home, and it could continue for up to 6 weeks postpartum. Some clinics provide a sort of mesh underwear for new moms to wear with thick pads. Other women prefer buying adult-sized diapers. Just do whatever makes you most comfortable.

#11 Belly buttons don't start out little and cute

Your little one's umbilical cord will be tied off immediately after birth, but a vestige of it will remain attached for several days, or even weeks, before drying up and falling off. It'll be black and a little bloody looking and not at all cute, but doctors discourage parents from trying to loosen them or pull on them.
Giving birth can be an incredible experience, and it can be a miserable experience. Just as no two moms or babies are the same, no two births are the same. The moment you think you know all there is about giving birth and new babies is the moment you learn you know nothing at all. So don't worry about being an expert, take a deep breath, and prepare to be surprised.

Kylie Jenner Proudly Shows Off Thigh Scar In Instagram Snap
Kylie Jenner is embracing her body, flaws and all.

While to us, she looks perfect, the reality star got fans talking after a scar on her thigh made an appearance in one of her recent Instagram snaps.

In the photo, Jenner wears a black mini dress as she poses with one leg over the other on a bed with her close friend Anastasia Karanikolaou.

"Matching with day 1 @stassiebaby," Jenner, 18, captioned the photo.

After many fans questioned the Keeping Up With the Kardashians star about the mark, she posted another photo of just her legs with the scar on full display, but didn't explain how she got the injury.

"I love my scar," she captioned the photo.

Although the scar might be new to some fans, Jenner revealed the story behind the scar four years ago in an interview with Celebuzz.

"Yes, I do have a scar on my leg. When I was about 5 my sister and I were playing hide and seek and I hid inside this really tall-enclosed gate," she said. "After a while when my sister didn't find me I had to climb up on this sharp pole sticking out from the gate. I slipped and the pole went into my leg. I tried pulling away to get the pole out but it just tore through my whole leg.

"It's smaller now though because I grew!"

INFANT SLEEP SAFETY TIPS

Baby sleeping peacefully
Babies are at greatest risk for SIDS from the age of 0 – 12 months. Now, what is SIDS? Is it a disease or illness? No, SIDS or Sudden Infant Death Syndrome is a term used for the unexplained and sudden death of an otherwise healthy infant of age 0 to 12 months. SIDS is most likely to happen during night or sleep time during day and it is the most common cause of death among the infants between 1 and 4 months; 90 % of deaths due to SIDS infants younger than 6 months. It is also referred to as “cot death”.
Are Some Babies At A Higher Risk For SIDS?

Certain factors may make your baby at a high risk of SIDS, like:
Babies who are born prematurely or low weight are at higher risk of SIDS
Not getting proper pre-natal care increases the risk of SIDS in infants
Smoking or consuming alcohol during pregnancy and after will increase the risk
Pregnancy before the age of 20 is a risk factor too.

However the good news is that the awareness regarding the correct baby sleep positions has reduced the number of SIDS substantially in all countries. What causes sudden death of an infant is not known however it can be avoided by practicing some sleep safety recommendations:
Infant Sleep Safety Recommendations
Use a crib for the baby to sleep however keep it near you in the same room, don’t make the baby sleep in different room. Share the same room but not the same bed. Infants should not be sleeping in car seats, pram, swings etc. Never sleep on the sofa with your baby
Always put baby to sleep on his or her back, right from the beginning, never on the tummy or sides. They can have supervised tummy times during the day when awake. If someone else also cares for your baby, let them know the correct sleep position as well
Do not cover the baby’s face with blanket, sheets etc. Place the baby to sleep on a firm mattress, avoid soft mattresses. This will avoid suffocation when baby is sleeping. Read more about splendid tummy times here
Don’t place stuffed toys, pillows, crib bumpers, blankets, sheets in the crib, it might cause suffocation and entrapment to the baby. Ensure the crib you use is not too small

Use clothing made specifically for baby sleeping like jumpsuits to avoid the use of blankets and sheets to cover the baby during night, even if you are going to use the blanket make sure that it is a baby size blanket and remains just upto the chest, not above
Don’t overheat the baby by dressing him/her in too many layers of clothing. Keep the room temperature as such that feels comfortable to you, keep the baby in the same temperature which is comfortable for adults
Do not smoke and consume alcohol during pregnancy and after delivery of child. And don’t allow smoking near the baby, passive smoking can also pose a risk to the baby
Breastfeed your child. Researches show that babies who are breastfed, or those who are only breastfed are less likely to die of Sudden Infant Death Syndrome. It is always recommended to exclusively breastfeed your baby at least for the first six months
Childproof The House Before The Baby Arrives

It will be a good idea to prepare your home for the baby’s safety beforehand. A few tips are given below to help you prepare for the arrival of your baby.
Prepare a first aid kit for the baby. You may include thermometer, paracetamol drops, bandages, nail cutter, electrolytes, rash cream in the first aid kit for the newly born baby
Keep emergency contact numbers like hospital emergency as well ambulance and contact numbers of your family members handy
Join an infant CPR class
Keep a sturdy bed side table in the room to keep baby stuff like wipes, bottles, diapers, towels etc or alternatively you can purchase a crib that has a built in side table
Ensure that the crib is not placed below the window or the cupboards or shelves where something may fall into the crib.
Before you buy the crib for the baby:
Ensure the mattress is firm, it is advisable to buy a foam mattress which will fit snuggly into the crib
Ensure there are no sharp edges on the crib
Buy one with adjustable mattress height to enable you to adjust according to the baby’s age and your convenience

Why Is It Necessary To Follow Infant Sleep Safety Tips?

Creating a sleep safe environment for your baby will reduce the risk of SIDS(Sudden Infant Death Syndrome). It is important to follow the sleep safety and childproofing guidelines because nothing is important than the safety of the child. Your home should be as safe a place for your new born as it was inside your womb. Ensure that you make your home baby friendly in every way possible before you welcome your little one home.
